Adam B. Stein

Adam B. Stein has worked in a wide range of film production roles including director, writer, producer and editor, launched his feature directing career as director/writer/producer (with regular filmmaking collaborator Zach Lipovsky) of the sci-fi thriller, Freaks (2018), starring Emile Hirsch, Bruce Dern, Grace Park, Amanda Crew and Lexy Kolker, and which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival’s Midnight Madness section, and was released by Well Go USA Entertainment. Stein was also director/writer/producer (with Lipovsky) of the Canadian-made sequel, Freaks Underground (date to be announced).
Stein helmed his first studio feature--again co-directed (with Zach Lipovsky) in the horror genre--for the sixth installment in the Final Destination film franchise, Final Destination: Bloodlines (2025), starring Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore and Tony Todd, with lead producer New Line Cinema and released by Warner Bros.
Stein was editor on the experimental feature, Chinatown Film Project (2009), comprising segments directed by a notable roster of American indie filmmakers, including Miguel Arteta, Patty Cheng, Jem Cohen, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Bradley Rust Gray, So Yong Kim, Sam Pollard, Shelly Silver, Rose Troche, Wayne Wang, and Richard Wong.
Personal life
Adam B. Stein was born and raised in Miami, Florida, by his father (a medical doctor) and mother. Stein attended and graduated from Harvard University. Stein then received his MFA degree in directing at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he made several short films and graduated in 1999.
