Bryce McGuire (birthname: Bryce James McGuire) is a director/writer/producer who has made a reputation as a skilled horror filmmaker. McGuire has directed and/or written twelve shorts, starting with A Pistol in Hand Is Worth Two in the Glove Box (2008). McGuire’s feature debut was the paranormal horror film blended with social media themes, Unfollowed (2018), starring Brendan Meyer, McKaley Miller, and Hunter Sansone.
Previously, McGuire wrote and co-directed (with Rob Blackhurst) the short, Night Swim (2014), which he eventually conceived as a feature. The result was the Blumhouse-produced Night Swim (2024), which Bryce McGuire directed and co-wrote with Blackhurst, and co-starring Wyatt Russell, Kerry Condon, Gavin Warren, Nancy Lenehan, and Jodi Long, and released by Universal Pictures. McGuire wrote and directed the horror fairytale, Bad Bloom (date to be announced), starring Vera Farmiga.
Personal life
Bryce McGuire was born and raised in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, area by his parents. McGuire attended and graduated from Keswick Christian School, where he first studied filmmaking. McGuire continued his film studies at Bryan College, in Dayton, Tennessee, and was then accepted to the directing program at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. McGuire’s height is 6’ 1”. McGuire and his wife have two sons.
