Dominique Fishback has earned acclaim as an outstanding actor, first in the New York theater scene, then on prestigious television (Steven Soderbergh’s The Knick; Showtime’s The Affair; FX’s The Americans; and HBO’s The Deuce, Show Me a Hero, and Random Acts of Flyness), and finally on the big screen. Her movie debut was an electrifying lead performance in writer-director Jordana Spiro’s highly praised drama, Night Comes On (2018), with Tatum Marilyn Hall and Max Casella, which premiered at the Sundance film festival and was then released in limited pattern by Samuel Goldwyn Films. Fishback’s next role was a supporting turn in the George Tillman Jr.-directed drama, The Hate U Give (2018), with Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Russell Hornsby, KJ Apa, Common, and Anthony Mackie. Dominique Fishback’s most impressive big-screen performance to date (as Fred Hampton’s girlfriend, Deborah) arrived in director-writer-producer Shaka King’s superb Black Panther drama, Judas and the Black Messiah (2021), starring Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, and Martin Sheen, and after its Sundance premiere was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture and a Best Supporting Actor win for Kaluuya and for Best Song. In a leap into big-budget studio production, Fishback co-starred with fellow Brooklynite Anthony Ramos in the Michael Bay-produced Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023), directed by Steven Caple Jr.

Personal life

Dominique Fishback was born and raised in Brooklyn. When she was ten years old, Fishback became interested in acting and theater. Fishback pursued her acting training in school and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater from Pace University in 2013. The following year, Fishback made a splash in the Off-Off-Broadway world with her theatrical debut in her own acclaimed one-woman show, Subverted. Fishback’s height is 5’ 2”.
