Mason Gooding made his feature theatrical debut in Olivia Wilde’s debut (as director),
Booksmart (2018), starring Kaitlyn Denver and Beanie Feldstein, with Jessica Williams, Will Forte, and Jason Sudeikis, returning $25 million (on $6 million costs) for United Artists Releasing after premiering at the South by Southwest.
Gooding landed his most successful role to date as Chad Meeks-Martin in Paramount Pictures’ reboot of
Scream (2020), then returned in the sequel (and sixth installment in the series),
Scream VI (2023), both co-directed by
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and
Tyler Gillett, both grossing a combined $308 million; Gooding followed up returning as Chad in the follow-up sequel,

Gooding was cast in Scott Mann’s survival thriller Fall (2022), which co-starred Caroline Currey, Virginia Gardner, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The film grossed a profitable return ($21.8 million on $3 million expenses) for distributors Lionsgate/Signature Entertainment. Gooding appeared in another comedy helmed by an actor making their directorial debut—in this case, Kyle Mooney—for the widely dismissed apocalyptic comedy,
Y2K (2024), with
Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison,
Rachel Zegler, Daniel Zolghadr, and Fred Durst, losing money for A24 after premiering at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
Gooding co-starred with
Olivia Holt in the rom-com slasher movie
Heart Eyes (2025), with Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Devon Sawa, and Jordana Brewster, and released by Screen Gems-Sony Pictures (North America)/Republic Pictures-Paramount Pictures (ex-North America). Gooding was cast by indie filmmaker Gregg Araki for his erotic drama,
