Michael Tiddes is a director/producer who has been associated with Marlon Wayans since his directorial debut with the “found footage” horror parody,
A Haunted House (2013), written and produced by Wayans (who starred and wrote the story) and Rick Alvarez, with Essence Atkins, Cedric the Entertainer and Nick Swardson, backed by IM Global/Baby Way Productions and grossing a fabulously profitable $60.1 million for distributor Open Road Films (based on estimated costs).
Tiddes continued as director of the sequel,
A Haunted House 2 (2014), again written and produced by star Wayans and Alvarez, with new cast members Jaime Pressly, Gabriel Iglesias, Missi Pyle, and Ashley Rickards, and earned over $25 million for Open Road Films. Tiddes reunited with writers/producers Marlon Wayans (who again topped the cast) and Rick Alvarez for the parody,
Fifty Shades of Black (2016), co-starring Kali Hawk, Affion Crockett, Jane Seymour,
Andrew Bachelor, Florence Henderson, Fred Willard, and Mike Epps, produced by IM Global/Baby Way Productions and grossing over $22 million for Open Road Films.
Tiddes directed more Wayans-starring comedies for Netflix
(Naked in 2017 and Sextuptlets in 2019), as well as a little-seen high school stoner comedy released on home video
(Half Baked: Totally High in 2024), and then reunited with the Wayans brothers as director of the sixth edition in the franchise,
Scary Movie (2026), co-written and co-produced by Marlon, Shawn, Keenan Ivory and Craig Wayans and Rick Alvarez, co-starring Marlon, Shawn, Damon, Gregg and Kim Wayans, Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan and Heidi Gardner, produced by Wayans Bros. Entertainment and released wide by Paramount Pictures.
