Morena Baccarin (birthname: Morena Silva de Vaz Setta Baccarin) is a Brazilian-American actor best known for her recurring lead roles in the TV series V (2009 to 2011), Homeland (in seasons one to three from 2011 to 2013) and Gotham (2015 to 2019), and who launched her feature film career in small roles in Perfume (2001) and director/writer/producer Dylan Kidd’s comedy-drama starring Campbell Scott, Jesse Eisenberg (in his debut), Isabella Rossellini and Elizabeth Berkley, Roger Dodger (2002); followed by more significant roles in director/writer Joss Whedon’s Firefly (2002) movie spinoff, Serenity (2005) and director/writer/producer Boaz Yakin’s erotic thriller, Death in Love (2008), with Josh Lucas, Jacqueline Bisset, Lukas Haas and Adam Brody and which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and released by Screen Media Films.

Morena Baccarin was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro until ten years old by her parents, father Fernando (journalist) and mother Vera Setta (actor). Baccarin’s family moved, due to her father’s work, to New York City when she was ten years old. Baccarin attended and graduated from Public School 41, New York Lab School for Collaborative Studies and then LaGuardia High School of Music and Performing Arts. Baccarin was accepted to the acting program at The Julliard School, where she belonged to program’s “Group 29” from 1996 to 2000, when she graduated. Baccarin was married to director/writer Austin Chick from 2011 to 2016, when they divorced; the couple has one child, son Julius.
