Plot Summary
- During a cricket tournament in the Middle East, India's top cricketer Viraj Sharma (Saqib Saleem) goes missing. During a recent match Viraj had dislocated his shoulder during a match, when he dived to complete a run, and avoid being run out. Dhananjay Sadanand (Mohinder Amarnath) is Viraj's coach. Viraj tells Dhananjay that he had dislocated his shoulder before and knows how to push it back in.Indian authorities get a video tape of an unknown Pakistani Fan, claiming to have abducted Viraj till the India vs Pakistan cricket match two days later and warned them not to cancel the match. Attempting to avoid media outrage, Gayatri Shubha Mishra (Mona Ambegaonkar), the External Affairs Minister of India, sends special task force officer Kabir Shergill IPS (John Abraham) to U.A.E for a 36-hour manhunt. Kabir's mission is to find Viraj and get him to the match with Pakistan on time.Kabir was dating Alishka (Anupriya Goenka) who is in an international air hostess. Kabir breaks up after he finds that Alishka was having an affair with Vishal (Sahil Phull), who is Kabir's best friend and a customs officer. Kabir has a keen sense of observation and can figure out clues by applying his common sense.Kabir is received by and gets into a semi-scuffle with a local officer, Saeed Naqvi. Saeed's task was to keep Kabir away from the real investigation, but Kabir threatens Saeed with a gun and goes to the Indian team hotel. Kabir tells Captain Yusuf Al-Dami, Abu Dhabi Police Chief (Mansoor) that he needs a guide for the city. Kabir, who is a no-nonsense cop, bumps into a rookie Indo-Emirati police officer Junaid Ansari (Varun Dhawan). Junaid has never been able to solve a case but has a good knowledge of the town which he acquired during his first incomplete case of finding a dog named Bradman.Both Kabir and Junaid club together to starts their investigation with CCTV footage of Viraj's hotel and finds out that on the night of his disappearance, Viraj went out with an unknown girl Samira Dalal (Nargis Fakhri). On confronting her, she reveals that she took Viraj to a friend's party, but he left soon.Kabir and Junaid meet a local informer Mushtaq Rizvi / Khabri Chacha (Vijay Raaz) who tells them that after the party, Viraj's wallet was stolen by a pickpocket. To get to the girl, the goon points them to a Gay playboy Sameer Gazi (Akshay Kumar) who met Viraj in the same party. But the gay playboy is a dead end. During this time, Junaid finally finds Bradman and vows to never lose track of him, tying a tracker band around his neck, containing a hidden camera.Finally, the duo gets a breakthrough by tracking down Viraj's cellphone from a pick-pocket's home, Meera "Ishika" Behl (Jacqueline Fernandez) who claims to have stolen the cell phone from a stranger at a supermarket. Ishika helps create a sketch of the person she saw. They also manage to capture the person in the video but discover that he is just a struggling actor being used as the face in the video by the real kidnapper. However, Junaid is shocked when the actor recognizes the "stranger" Ishika had mentioned (and created a sketch of) as the fugitive who conducted his audition. Kabir asks Saeed (Tarun Khanna), Junaid's superior, to identify the stranger. The stranger is identified as Altaf.It is revealed that the real kidnapper is a cricket bookie Rahul "Wagah" Kabiraj (Akshaye Khanna), who along with his assistant Altaf (Rahul Dev) has abducted Viraj and offered him 50 Crore rupees to under play in the final (playing for 25 overs, keeping the run rate under 5, and causing the run out of 2 top players). Viraj was blindfolded and did not see Wagah, but agreed to the deal, so he could be released. But then Viraj tried to approach a cop (without knowing that the cop is Wagah himself) & they kidnap him permanently till the final match is played. UAE police spots Altaf in Abu Dhabi but are unable to pursue him there. Kabir decides to pursue Altaf alone, and Junaid & Ishika join him after Junaid quits the force, and they break Ishika out of the UAE police HQ.Kabir, a suspended-from-duty Junaid and Ishika go to an underground Arabian club in Altaf's native state Abuddin, full of goons and guns, where Ishika helps Kabir and Junaid by distracting the goons and later Kabir rescues her from them. During the journey, Junaid reveals to Ishika that Kabir suffered from cancer and was cheated by his girlfriend for the same and has lost his smile ever since. Hearing this, Ishika warms up to Kabir, clicking and sending photos of both together while he is still asleep, to his recently turned ex-girlfriend Alishka.Kabir spots Altaf and both try to chase him down but before they could succeed, a sniper kills Altaf. Wagah calls and confesses to Kabir that he got Altaf killed, and they should stop searching for Viraj. Wagah confronts Viraj, threatens to kill his family, shoots both a Mumbai-based partner and his own manager, and asks his wife to leave with their son, finally stranded, with only Bradman, revealed to be their family dog, by his side.On returning to Abu Dhabi, Kabir and Junaid are taken off the case and Kabir ordered to fly back to India. Seeing Kabir walk towards the airport, Ishika goes soft and confesses her feelings for Kabir to Junaid. Earlier, Junaid had been tasked to find a missing dog & he was butt of all police jokes as he could not find it. But while on Altaf's trail, he finds the dog & returns it to his department. From the video camera on Bradman, Junaid finds video of the location where Wagah had hidden Viraj.Wagah has hidden him in a yacht near the team hotel. Both reach the location only to discover that Wagah has fled leaving behind Viraj tied with a time bomb. With minutes to blast Kabir negotiates with Wagah to stop the bomb in return of 5 billion rupees from Indian Government. Wagah takes the money but refuses to stop the bomb.After witnessing the blast from a distance Wagah walks into the cricket stadium expecting the match to begin without Viraj. But to his shock Viraj is alive and walks into the ground all ready to play as Kabir and Junaid helped Viraj to get out of the jacket by dislocating his shoulder and all three had jumped into water just before the blast.After seeing his plan failed, Wagah tries to run away only to be apprehended by the duo. Kabir returns to India along with Ishita, while Junaid gets a marriage proposal from an Indian girl Muskaan (Parineeti Chopra) and he also plans to fly to India to meet her.
