Jason is a struggling single father who co-owns a distillery named The Two Jacks with his best friend Brian. The name hurts. It's named after two men — Brian's son, and Jason's son Jack, who is dead. Jason is not good at talking about it. His teenage daughter Claire is not good at forgiving him for that. When Jason signs on to chaperone her at the Young Miss Southeast Regional Dance Finals, two people who can barely speak to each other are stuck in a car, a hotel, and then a competition hall, in the middle of a world of dance moms that neither of them chose.
